Back Home!

29th December 2012
It has been a few days since my last update. And other than epic amounts of rain (apparently this year has already smashed the "wettest year on record" marker and we still have a couple of wet days left to make extra sure of it) we have been off and up to a fair bit.

We popped down to Hartlebury in Worcestershire to visit Jen's folks for a few days on Boxing Day, which led to the two boys being spoiled rotten as only Grandparents can do!

On the 27th there was a brief spell of reasonable weather so I got out for a walk around the village - just me and my camera! I didn't really have long so I headed for the Castle, which was the home to the Bishop of the region for a long time through the Christian history of England. It is an interesting spot, and somewhere that I really should get back to when it is both open and we haven't been experiencing such prolonged rain!

The 28th was another wet day, but we went for a drive around the locale, spotted many interesting places to visit, photograph, ride mountain bikes... and drink! Future adventures were plotted before heading back to the village to meet up with a family of Antipodean travelers for the evening in the form of my oldest mate John, his wife Bel and their little girl Hope. The children were all babysat by Jen's folks for the evening which gave us a chance to slip away for a meal, some beer (when did Southerners learn how to brew a decent pint!) and a catch up. This continued today with another meal, another fine pint and a pilgrimage to John Bonham's grave (of Led Zeppelin fame) before parting ways for a couple more years with plans made for next time.

It was then a long drive home via Birmingham through the rain.
