Beating the Rain

09th March 2015
Today I had a few minutes in hand, and I happened to be near Millerground in Windermere - somewhere I have been meaning to start photographing since a family visit a few weeks ago! Two and two were put together and off I went, the camera was quickly set up on the tripod, and the Lee 10 stop ND filter slotted in place.

Just as I pressed the shutter release the heavens opened. I was, but this stage, committed - so I shielded the filter with the filter bag and sat it out for five and a half minutes or so in the pouring rain, unable to move for fear of what it may do to the result.

So, my one and only photograph from today - a single shutter operation - yielded this:

Which I have to say... aint bad for a first go! I plan to return to this spot over the coming months and seasons to see how it develops and what works best.

Even with a terrible weather forecast, it is sometimes possible to get some good results!
