Dreaming of a better place

07th August 2017
We are home - two weeks of summertime adventures are behind us and we are slowly trying to get back to normal! It has been fantastic with a week of swimming lessons and local trips in the South Lakes followed by a week exploring the Isle of Mull.

What can I say about Mull? We all loved it - so much variation in landscape in such a small area with at least three if not four distinct areas either through geology or vegetation. There was way too much to see in just a week but everywhere I looked I could see another compelling scene or feature to photograph and explore. Time was not on our side, so we will most certainly be back!

That said - there are more islands to visit and the West Highlands themselves are shouting for some exploration.

I can't wait!!!!

This trip was not, however, about photography. It was about something else. Partially about a break, partially about thinking of the future and where our lives and our family are headed. What pleased me more than anything else was how much the boys and Dakota all enjoyed where we were, what we were doing and all being with one another. My Mum loved Mull, and she would have been absolutely delighted to have seen them all together enjoying the island.

Even Roki had a lot of fun!

So, back to sorting out the more mundane. Summer is still here and it is a while yet before the golden light and dramatic landscapes of autumn return. The next few weeks will be spent trying to get the house into some kind of order, catching up with work and one photographic assignment next weekend.
