That Was Winter

28th February 2013
According to the meteorologists today was the last day of winter for another year, tomorrow it is spring.

Allegedly.

I do wish they would join with the lunar/solar cycles and just go with the solstices, we still have 3 weeks of winter left by my reckoning and hence plenty of time left for some serious wintery weather (although whether we see any or not is another thing entirely and I suspect we have seen the last of the snow for another season).

So how has February been? Not the best of months to be honest. I have been ill for more of it than I should, tired and run down. I have missed some fantastic photographic opportunities as a result of this and being a little lazy when I was feeling well and generally ran around chasing my tail far too much. March has got to be more productive! There are plans afoot, so lets see what happens.

Back to today then. Well it has been a wonderful day with blue skies over the Lakes. The light was a little too hazy unfortunately but it was great to be out non-the-less. The sunshine is starting to get a real background warmth to it when you get out of the wind and there are hints of the imminent arrival of spring everywhere. Today was spent working primarily around the northern end of Ullswater where I took the photo of the day for the 28th February:

I will try and get sorted out with a new wallpaper tomorrow, there have been sparse pickings this month to choose between!
