The miles are mounting up!

03rd October 2016
Last week was hard work! Two early morning starts to Glasgow (one returning the same day, the other we got to spend a night!)

But it has all been good - we have made some progress for the future and that in itself is very important. Friday was my birthday and although I don't make much of it myself I am, apparently, not allowed to let it pass without comment. I came home to this!

Birthday coffee cake, cards from Jen and the boys and surprise pressies.

This set us up for Saturday's trip to see Dakota which involved a trip to Lomond Shores and the Bird of Prey Centre which was loads of fun!

After dropping her back home it was onto Stirling where there were some stunning scenes unfolding.

This was a panoramic shot with the 12mm as I wanted to capture both the foreground of the gate and field as well as the dramatic sky. I would usually have used a longer lens to pull the hills forward into the frame, whilst they were dramatic - and another version focused on them more - I rather liked this one, it is more dramatic)

Obviously we were camping as usual....

(Our friends live in a marvellous 5 bedroom farmhouse just beyond the shores of the Lake of Mentieth, the views from the house, it's grounds, and the long lane that leads to it are absolutely stunning).

Even in the autumn mist it is absolutely stunning out there. These shots required a little positive compensation to stop them going grey and lifeless!

Sunday was another fine day spent doing what girls do best... shopping! Wedding outfits were bought for Dakota, Lachlan and Hamish ready for Jennifer and I getting married in just a couple of weeks time!

Back home Sunday night and we are trying to get back into our routine again, which is proving tricky between hospital visits (I am in for an x Ray tomorrow) and my van being off the road for a few more days whilst the steering is replaced!

But whilst today was slow, it was kind of back to normal.
