Time to Get On!

11th October 2015
The last 5 weeks have not gone entirely to plan, damaging my ankle has left me in an increasingly grumpy state as I haven't been able to get out and do anything. A bout of Gastric Flu on my Birthday just seemed to fit in with my general mood, although we did look around a nice place in the hills that morning before I got too bad.

So what has changed.

I moved my mate from Dumfries to Carlisle on Saturday, and whilst driving an obnoxiously large van with a Godawful driving position something in my ankle made a clicking/snapping noise. There was a brief, sharp, pain and then... well... it felt a lot more "normal" than it has in some time. I am hopeful that things may be, if not on the mend as such, at least back to a place where I am no longer feeling like a cripple. There is still a lot of tenderness so this week I am going to keeping it light, just edging up the walking from bare minimum to something a little more and see how it goes. If things work out then perhaps, just perhaps, I can think about some biking in the next week or two... although I may just leave it until next month to make sure things are okay. I am still chasing for that orthopaedic consultation though to actually get this thing finally fixed.

There has been more good stuff too, seeing Dakota for a really lovely day, albeit an exhausting one with too much driving. Dave's move to Carlisle should help for the next one of those as I can stop off overnight on the Friday and save myself 1.5 hours on the Saturday morning. This last visit we went to Deep Sea World to see the Sharks, followed by Blackness Castle. Loads of cuddles, some story reading and general running about were had along the way.

I have started testing vans too. My pickup is too thirsty and starting to feel it's miles a little too much now and I am thinking of more environmentally reasonable alternatives. This weeks was a Vito which has a great driving position also has magnificent visibility, so I was spotting photo locations left, right and centre! Next is a Transit Custom so we will see how that is.

So after a long slump I am starting to feel a bit more positive again. But my next job is to head to the hospital and start complaining about the inability of the online booking system to give me an actual appointment!
